Setting Up and Managing HRIS Integration Settings

Last updated August 15, 2025

PerkUp’s HRIS integrations allow you to automatically sync employee data, trigger recognition events, and keep your directory up-to-date. This guide walks you through connecting your HRIS and managing its settings.

Connecting Your HRIS

  1. Confirm you have admin access in PerkUp. Only admins can set up integrations.
  2. In the admin view, select Integrations from the left-hand menu.
  3. Locate the HRIS you want to connect and click it.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the connection process.

Once connected, PerkUp will begin syncing data from your HRIS automatically.

Adding Multiple HRIS Integrations

You can connect more than one HRIS if your organization uses multiple systems.

  • Click Add HRIS Integration in the Integrations page.
  • Repeat the setup process for each HRIS.
  • Each connected HRIS can have its own configuration settings.

Configuring HRIS Settings

For each connected HRIS, you can customize how data is imported and managed in PerkUp:

Employee and Contractor Sync

  • Sync Employees: Choose to import full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, and/or interns.
  • Sync Contractors: Apply the same employment type filters if applicable.

Data Import Settings

  • Import Birthdays: Automatically pull birthday data from the HRIS.
  • Import Personal Emails: Include personal email addresses in PerkUp profiles.
  • Import Custom Labels: Bring in any custom fields or tags from your HRIS.

Field Overrides

When enabled, specific fields in PerkUp will always match the HRIS and cannot be edited manually in PerkUp:

  • Start date
  • Birthday
  • Manager

These overrides are configured per HRIS and can differ between integrations.

Syncing Data

  • Automatic Sync: Once connected, data syncs daily.
  • Manual Sync: You can run a manual sync anytime from the integration’s settings page.

Best Practices

  • Review your HRIS data before syncing to ensure it’s accurate and up-to-date.
  • If you manage multiple HRIS integrations, confirm which system should be the “source of truth” for each field.
  • Run a manual sync after major changes (e.g., mass onboarding) to update PerkUp immediately.
