This article explains how program budgets connect to your organization's funding accounts — where the money for a reward comes from, who can send from an account, and what happens to a budget when a program ends.

What is a funding account?

A funding account is where your organization keeps money for rewards. Every program — whether it's a one-time reward, a bulk send, or an automation — draws its budget from a funding account. You can view and manage your funding accounts from Funding accounts.

Who can send from a funding account?

Each funding account has its own permissions, set per person or role: full, send, or view. Admins get full access by default. Managers get no account access unless you grant it. "Send" is the minimum permission needed to fund or send a program from an account — you need at least send permission on a funding account to activate a program that draws from it.

How do I see how much of an account is committed to programs?

A funding account's page shows its current balance, the amount already spent, and program-reserved amounts — how much of your balance is committed to active programs. That lets you see what's already spoken for before you send another reward. For more detail on reading these numbers, see "Understanding your company balance."

Can I change which account a program is funded from?

Yes. You can change a program's funding account after it's sent, but the change only affects new spending going forward — it doesn't move money that's already been spent from the original account.

What happens to a program's budget when it ends?

Every program has a start and end date, and it only stays active within that window. Once a program ends, any unclaimed budget simply stops being spendable — members can no longer use it. Admins can also expire a program immediately from the program page instead of waiting for its end date.

If the account a program draws from is running low, see "Adding funds to your PerkUp account" for how to top it up.
