This article explains the three balance numbers on your PerkUp account page — current balance, unredeemed rewards, and surplus/exposure — and how they relate to each other.
What is my current balance?
Your current balance is the money your organization has stored with PerkUp, available to fund new rewards. It goes up when you add funds and goes down as recipients redeem or spend the rewards you've sent. You can view your current balance at the top of your account page.
What are unredeemed rewards?
Unredeemed rewards are rewards you've already sent to recipients that haven't been claimed or spent yet. This amount represents your organization's outstanding liability — money that's committed but not yet used. On the account page, you can expand the unredeemed rewards figure to see the detail behind it.
What is surplus/exposure?
Surplus/exposure is your current balance minus your unredeemed rewards. It tells you how much of your stored balance is truly free to use versus already spoken for by rewards that haven't been redeemed yet. A positive number means you have surplus funds beyond what's committed; if unredeemed rewards exceed your current balance, this number goes negative, showing you're exposed and may want to add funds.
Where can I see a history of my balance activity?
The Balance activity tab on your account page shows monthly balance reports, including your opening balance, amounts deposited, refunded, spent, and any adjustments, plus your ending balance for the period. You can expand any entry to see the individual transactions behind it. If you need the data outside PerkUp, you can download a summary report, a detailed report, or a reward report as CSV files.
How do I get notified if my balance runs low?
You can configure low-balance alerts for each account individually. From your account page, click into the specific balance you want to set an alert for, then open its Notifications tab to set a threshold and choose who gets notified when the balance drops below it. PerkUp does not offer automatic top-up, so when you get a low-balance alert, you'll need to add funds manually to keep rewards flowing.
Where else can I manage my account's finances?
Your account page also has Invoices, Permissions, and Notifications tabs alongside Balance activity. The Invoices tab lists the invoices tied to that specific account, while your organization's full invoice history — across all accounts and billing entities — lives on the main Billing page.
