This guide walks you through the first steps to set up your PerkUp account and start sending rewards. Whether you’re sending swag, gift cards, or custom gifts, the platform is designed to make it easy to manage everything in one place.

Upload your employee list to the People Directory. You can do this manually, via CSV upload, or by integrating your HRIS. Include fields like name, email, manager, start date, and birthday to unlock automation features later.

Invite your team and assign them roles (Admin, Manager, or Member). You can control what each person can see and do—like sending rewards, managing budgets, or accessing reports.

To start sending swag or rewards, add funds to your account using a credit card or bank transfer. You can also allocate budgets to specific teams, managers, or campaigns.

Browse the PerkUp platform to select from swag, gifts, gift cards, or the Perk Card. You can create custom swag packs, select curated gifts, or allow recipients to choose what they want.

Automate milestone gifting for new hires, birthdays, and work anniversaries by connecting your HRIS or setting up rules manually. You can also notify managers ahead of time for a more personal touch.

If you’re offering employees access to a swag store, choose the products, set eligibility, and define how funds can be spent. PerkUp handles inventory, storage, and global fulfillment.

Use your dashboard to track reward activity, shipment status, redemption rates, and spending. You can also download reports to share with your team or leadership.

Once your account is set up, you can start sending meaningful rewards in just a few clicks. Everything from inventory to delivery is managed for you—so you can focus on creating a great experience.

Getting started with PerkUp

The People Directory is the foundation of your PerkUp account. It holds all the user data needed to send rewards, assign budgets, automate gifting, and track engagement. Here’s how to get it set up properly.

: Add individuals one at a time by entering their name, email, and role.

: Import a spreadsheet with multiple users at once. Use the provided template to ensure correct formatting.

: Connect your HR system (e.g. Rippling, BambooHR) to sync employee data automatically.

For the best experience, include the following fields for each person:

Custom Labels (optional for filtering or segmentation)

Assign each user a role that controls what they can access:

Your organization settings control how your PerkUp account is structured and managed. This includes company information, time zone preferences, display currency, and integrations. Here’s what you can manage and how to get the most out of it.

Update your company name, logo, and contact details. This information appears in email communications and in your team’s swag store. Make sure your logo is high resolution for the best appearance on swag and in the UI.

Set your organization’s default time zone to ensure automations and reports are properly aligned with your team’s schedule. Choose your default display currency for consistency across transactions and balance reporting.

Manage which email domains are allowed to create accounts or be added as users. This helps prevent unauthorized access and keeps your team list clean.

View and manage your connected platforms, such as HRIS tools or Slack. You can enable or disconnect integrations, configure sync settings, and manage data permissions here.

Create and manage custom fields or labels to help filter, segment, and report on users across your directory. These can be used for automations, targeting, or reporting by team, region, or role.

If you manage more than one company or region, you can switch between organizations from the top navigation. Each org has its own settings, balances, swag store, and users.

Automations in PerkUp help you send rewards and swag at the right time, without manual effort. You can automate gifts for birthdays, work anniversaries, and new hires to make sure no important moment is missed.

You can create automations for the following events:

Each automation can be triggered before, on, or after a specific date, depending on your preference.

To use automations, make sure your People Directory includes accurate start dates and birthdays. This can be added manually, via CSV, or through your HRIS integration.

Monetary rewards (e.g., Perk Card or balance credit) 

Customize the reward based on the event and recipient type.

Add a personal touch by writing a custom message that will be sent along with the gift. You can also add the sender name, team, or company info to make it feel more human.

You can choose to notify a recipient’s manager ahead of their milestone to let them know a gift is being sent or to allow them to add a custom note.

View and download reports of all gifts sent via automation, including recipient name, gift type, delivery status, and engagement metrics.
