This article explains how to connect your HRIS to PerkUp so your team's records, birthdays, and shipping addresses stay up to date automatically.

How do I connect my HRIS to PerkUp?

Go to Organization → Integrations and pick your HRIS tile. PerkUp supports 40+ providers, including BambooHR, Rippling, Gusto, Workday, ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, UKG, Dayforce, TriNet, Justworks, Deel, Remote, Personio, HiBob, and Namely. Click your provider and follow the guided OAuth connect flow — you'll be redirected to sign in to your HRIS and approve access, then returned to PerkUp once the connection is authorized. You need admin access to set this up.

What does the HRIS sync bring into PerkUp?

Once connected, PerkUp syncs each person's email, start date (used for work anniversaries), title, and manager automatically. You can also turn on optional toggles for:

  • Importing birthdays

  • Importing personal emails

  • Importing custom labels

  • Automatically assigning managers

  • Importing shipping addresses

PerkUp also syncs labels like department, country, and employment type, plus any custom fields from your HRIS you've enabled.

Why does the birthday and address toggle matter?

The sync toggles feed directly into other PerkUp features. Importing birthdays lets you run birthday automations without asking each person to enter their own date. Importing shipping addresses keeps direct-mail rewards deliverable without manual entry. If a toggle is off, that data simply won't populate from your HRIS — you can still fill it in manually or turn the toggle on later.

What happens when someone leaves the company in my HRIS?

When a person goes inactive in your HRIS, they're removed from PerkUp automatically on the next sync. This un-enrolls them from programs, deletes their scheduled rewards, and cancels their Perk Card — the same result as manually offboarding someone in PerkUp.

Whose data wins if I edit a synced field manually?

PerkUp gives you per-field override control, so you choose whether your HRIS data or a manual edit made directly in PerkUp takes precedence for each field. This matters if you correct a title or manager in PerkUp between HRIS syncs and don't want the next sync to overwrite it.

Can I connect more than one HRIS account?

Yes. PerkUp supports multiple connections to the same provider, which is useful if your company runs separate HRIS instances for different entities or subsidiaries.

Does leave-of-absence data sync from my HRIS?

No. Leave-of-absence dates are not pulled from your HRIS — you enter them directly in PerkUp. See "Leave of absence automations" for how those dates are used.

For adding people without an HRIS connection, see "Adding team members (invite, CSV, or HRIS)". Once your sync is running, review "Labels and lists: targeting groups of people" to use your synced labels for targeting automations and programs.

Sync behavior worth knowing

  • Start dates: most HRIS providers send the latest rehire date, not the original seniority date. To correct someone, disable the start-date override for the integration, then edit the date manually or via CSV — otherwise the next sync overwrites your fix.

  • You can filter which employment types sync (full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, intern) and toggle whether contractors are included.

  • Syncs run automatically every day, and you can trigger a manual sync from the integration page any time.

  • Synced employee IDs appear in downloaded transaction and reward reports, so you can reconcile against your HRIS.

  • If one person isn't syncing, send support their full name, work email, and an HRIS screenshot so we can trace the record.
