This article explains how to add your own money to a PerkUp reward so you can afford a pricier item, and what limits apply.

How do I add personal funds to a reward?

When you're checking out on a claimed reward, PerkUp shows the price of your budget and gives you the option to add personal funds if the item you want costs more than your reward covers. Personal funds are added by card payment through a secure payment form, in USD. You can choose one of the preset amounts shown or enter a custom amount.

Where do my personal funds go?

Personal funds you add land in a separate personal account tied to your profile, in an auto-created "Personal Funds" program. From there they combine with your reward budget at checkout so you can complete the purchase.

Can I always add personal funds?

Not always. The sender of a gift can disable the option to add personal funds for that specific reward. If you don't see the option at checkout, the sender has turned it off for that gift — you'll need to choose an item within your reward budget instead.

Is there a limit on gift card purchases with personal funds?

Yes. If you're using personal funds to help pay for a gift card, purchases are capped at $300 per calendar month. This cap applies specifically to the personal-funds portion of gift card purchases, not to your PerkUp reward balance.

Can I get a refund on personal funds?

Personal funds don't expire and can be refunded. Refunds aren't self-serve in the app, so contact support through the messenger on this help center or in the app, and let them know how much you'd like refunded. Support will process the refund for you.

Do personal funds work the same way as my reward balance?

Personal funds are separate from any PerkUp balance you've earned through rewards — they're money you've chosen to add yourself to complete a purchase. For more on how your reward balance works in general, see "How balances work: rewards, categories, and spending limits."

Refunds of personal funds aren't self-serve — contact support through the messenger, and allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.
