This article explains what installing PerkUp into Slack enables for reward notifications, announcements, and celebrations.
How do I connect Slack to PerkUp?
Go to Organization → Integrations and install PerkUp into your Slack workspace through the standard Slack install flow. You need admin access to set this up.
What does the Slack integration do?
Once installed, PerkUp can:
Send reward notifications as a direct message, on a per-reward toggle
Post channel announcements when rewards go out
Post birthday and work-anniversary celebration messages, with digest grouping options if you don't want a separate post for every event
Automatically match your PerkUp directory to Slack users by email, with a badge showing who's linked
Will every reward recipient get a Slack DM?
Only people whose Slack email matches their PerkUp email are linked and reachable by DM — the badge in your directory shows who's matched. Email notifications always still send regardless of whether Slack is connected or a person is linked, so no recipient is left without a notification. Turning on Slack DMs adds a second channel; it doesn't replace email.
Does PerkUp support Slack slash commands or in-Slack recognition?
No. PerkUp's Slack integration is limited to reward DMs, channel announcements, and celebration posts — there are no slash commands or in-Slack peer recognition features.
Does my Slack directory stay in sync automatically?
Yes. As people join or change in Slack, the directory match stays in sync automatically — you don't need to relink members manually.
To set up celebration notifications in more detail, see "Birthday automations" and "Work anniversary automations".
Announcements and disconnecting
Birthday and work-anniversary announcements: in Anniversaries & Birthdays, open the Notifications subtab to choose the channel, public or private posting, and customize the message.
To update or disconnect Slack, open Settings → Integrations → Slack. Disconnecting stops all Slack notifications immediately; reconnecting restores them.
