This article explains where PerkUp gets the shipping address it uses for direct mail sends, and how to check for people missing an address before a launch date. You need admin access to view this information.

Where does PerkUp get the address for a direct mail send?

Direct mail automations ship to the shipping address saved on the recipient's PerkUp profile. That address can come from any of these sources:

  • Entered manually by the member themselves or by an admin.

  • CSV import — a shipping address column included in a guided CSV import.

  • HRIS sync — if your HRIS integration has the "import shipping addresses" toggle enabled.

  • Directory sync from your identity provider.

If a person has more than one saved address, PerkUp uses the first one on their record.

What happens if a recipient doesn't have a shipping address?

If a direct mail rule matches someone with no saved address, the send doesn't fail silently — it retries on subsequent engine runs within the rule's grace window, giving the address time to be added. If the window passes with no address, the send stays unfulfilled.

How do I check who's missing a shipping address before an automation sends?

Go to the Automations "Missing addresses" tab. It lists everyone whose direct mail send is being held up because they don't have a shipping address on file. Check this tab before a known send date (like an upcoming batch of work anniversaries or new hire start dates) so you can add addresses before the grace window runs out.

How do I add or fix someone's shipping address?

An admin can add or edit a shipping address manually on the person's profile, or the member can enter it themselves. If addresses are coming from your HRIS, confirm the "import shipping addresses" toggle is enabled on that integration rather than editing addresses one at a time.

Does this apply to every automation type?

Address sourcing works the same way for any rule set to direct mail send mode — work anniversary, birthday, new hire, or leave of absence. See "Email vs direct mail: automation send modes" for how to set a rule to direct mail in the first place.
