This article explains how to send a reward to a large group of people at once using a CSV file, and what happens to email addresses that aren't already in your directory.
How do I send rewards to a list of people using a CSV?
When you reach the recipients step of the new-reward wizard, choose the CSV upload option instead of picking people manually. This opens a guided import: you upload your file, match its columns to PerkUp fields (like email, name, and label values), and confirm before the recipients are added to your send. You need admin or manager access to send a reward this way.
What should my CSV file include?
At minimum, your CSV needs an email address for each recipient. You can also include other person fields, such as name and shipping address, which the guided import will let you map to the right columns.
What happens if an email address isn't already in my directory?
Any email address in your CSV that doesn't match an existing person is automatically created as a new person in your directory as part of the import. You don't need to add people manually before sending — the CSV upload handles it for you. Because of this, it's worth double-checking your file for typos before confirming the import, since a misspelled email will create a new (incorrect) directory entry rather than matching an existing person.
Can I use a CSV to set budgets or reward types per person?
No. A CSV in the recipients step controls who receives the reward, not how much they get or what they receive. The reward type and the per-recipient budget are each chosen once in the wizard — in the reward step and the budget step — and apply to everyone in that send. Your CSV maps person fields like email, name, and shipping address; it does not carry a per-person dollar amount or gift. If different people need different amounts or gifts, send them as separate rewards.
How is this different from a regular CSV people import?
Uploading a CSV in the new-reward wizard's recipients step adds people to that specific reward send only — it's part of sending a reward, not a standalone directory action. A separate, guided CSV import exists in your Directory settings for adding or updating people in your team roster (including shipping addresses) without sending them a reward. Use the recipients-step CSV when your goal is to send a reward now; use the Directory import when your goal is just to build out your team roster.
What happens after I upload my CSV?
Once the guided import finishes, the matched and newly created people appear as recipients on the send. From there, continue through the wizard's remaining steps — budget and funding account — and then send immediately or schedule the reward for later, just as you would with any other reward.
